Well even a nice sized ATB can inflict a pretty serious bite!! FuglyFarmHand learned that first hand with the 6 stitches. I've never been tagged by an adult GTP, but i did have a 4' female Suriname Sheild ETB get me once and MAN O MAN' did it hurt LOL....

I would love to have a GTP. I think they are the most beautiful snakes out there and they absolutely fascinate me. But I have two kids 11 and 8 that I'm afraid would want to handle it too much. Course, I could sell them to gypsies and then get me that snake....LOL.

My ETB is a wonderful creature. A great example of where you should lay a lot of respect. He and I get along, but he makes a lot of the rules. As long as I understand them, we're all good.

Edit: GTPs are generally more accomodating than ETBs. And, IMO, it is healthy to get bit periodically.

One thing I ask kids: "When is it the snake's fault that it bit you?"

NEVER. It is ALWAYS YOUR FAULT. You didn't pay attention or didn't understand what the snake was telling you. (Unfortunately) Imperical knowlege stays the longest.

I agree 100%.. It is never the snake's fault if it bites someone IMO! But no matter how much we stress over this it will always be the animals fault in A LOT of people's eye's!! It's sad, but it's the truth.
